ABOUT THE FILM
APOCALYPSE OZ is a “CineClash” film.
It is not a spoof, a parody or a remake.
While the film itself is an original production, it is based upon a radical reinterpretation and ‘remix’
of two well-known screenplays – those of APOCALYPSE NOW (1979) and THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939)
- from which a third, quite different script has been extracted.
Screenplays are not inviolate and those for “Apocalypse Now” and “The Wizard of Oz” are themselves
interpretive adaptations of established classic texts.
The script for “Apocalypse Oz” was was written according to strict rules:
* Plot and characters are all hybrids of the ‘parent’ films
* There is no original dialogue in the film at all. All lines come strictly from one or the
other of the ‘parent’ films. Most lines ‘sample’ or re-arrange dialogue from both films.
APOCALYPSE OZ - screenplay by Ewan Telford,
adapted from works by:
Joseph Conrad, L. Frank Baum, Noel langley,
Florence Ryerson, Edgar Allan Woolf, John Millius,
Francis Ford Coppola and Michael Herr.
